THIRD FORM VISITS

"When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford." Dr Johnson 1709-1784

The Third Form visits programme seeks to take advantage of the school's unique location in the heart of the City. Many of the places that are included in the programme are reached on foot from CLS and include the Bank of England, the Museum of Surgery, Tate Modern and the Salvation Army Headquarters. Third Form visits take place two afternoons a week, with forms taking it in turns to participate.

Many of the excursions gel with a particular subject on the boys' curriculum for example our visit to the Globe Theatre relates to both the English and Drama departments. We also explore many places of historic interest such as the Winston Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms. During the Spring Term we have the opportunity of visiting the Magistrates' Court in Mansion House. Boys relish the opportunity to have a go at acting out various courtroom scenes and taking on the role of judges. This visit gives the students a chance to learn how the courts system operates and complements the citizenship segment of the PSHE course. The boys have particularly enjoyed our visits to the BBC where they are escorted around various studios, watch filming take place and even participate in a mock game of the Weakest Link!

Many thanks have to go to the staff of the places we visit for helping to ensure that the trips are both an educational and enjoyable experience.
