Sport

Sport at CLS is thriving. The school provides excellent sporting opportunities for everyone regardless of ability or aspiration.  Physical Education lessons, which are held in a fully equipped Sports Hall, aim to develop the interest and enthusiasm of each boy for physical activity.

Each boy receives one period of Physical Education and one period of Swimming per week in addition to one Games Session, as follows:

Monday: Second Form

Tuesday: Fourth Form

Wednesday: Fifth and Sixth Forms

Thursday: Third Form

Friday: OG and First Form

Boys taking part in the major field sports at City of London School, including Football, Cricket, Hockey, Athletics and Tennis, will spend their sports afternoons at Grove Park (the School's 20 acre sports ground in Eltham, South East London) to which they are transported by coach, returning at the normal school finishing time of 4pm. Additional Games options are available to boys from the Third Form onwards. Squash, Fitness and Circuit training, Badminton, Basketball, Indoor Rowing, Running, Karate, Judo, Swimming and Water polo are available as on site Games options. Boys choosing Fives, Climbing, Golf and Sailing are transported to local facilities.

Inter Form and Inter House competitions are organised on a half termly basis. Inter School Fixtures take place during Games sessions, after school and on Saturday mornings. Team practices take place before school, at lunch break and after school.
