Sailing

Sailing is a very popular games option for boys in the Third Form and above. Sailing takes place at the Docklands Sailing Centre, Canary Wharf, London. Each term is spent instructing groups of boys to develop confidence and proficiency in and around the sport. As the boys get older they are guided through the YHA Youth Sailing Scheme awards scheme. Developing sailors can work through all four levels of this scheme during their games afternoons. In their senior years boys progress on to take Dinghy qualifications, developing seamanship skills, race and spinnaker techniques and performance improvement.  All sailing sessions are run by the centres own fully qualified staff with CLS teachers co-ordinating and assisting in the programme. Each session is governed by the centre's own risk assessments and safe practice guidelines.

In the pictures our boys can be seen: being taught how to rig the boats before leaving the jetty; sailing close to houseboats, houses, flats, offices, the Docklands Light Railway and Canary Wharf; passing the ExCel Centre (venue of the Boat Show) and making their way towards the Dome and Canary Wharf in the distance during one of our sailing club's outings.
