THE POLITICS SOCIETY
The CLSB Politics Society is a vibrant club that is privileged in being able attract a wide range of top calibre speakers to address the School including, in recent years, Vince Cable MP, Jeremy Paxman, George Osborne, Nick Clegg, Ken Livingstone, Harriet Harman, Tessa Jowell, Shami Chakrabati, Nick Robinson, Chris Huhne, Charles Clarke, Bridget Kendall and John Bercow.
Politics Society is the forum through which boys in the School have an opportunity to actively engage in the contemporary side of the discipline. Sessions are usually held at lunch times and involve the guest speaker delivering a twenty minute talk on his or her area of expertise. This is followed by what always prove to be very well informed question and answer sessions which afford the boys the opportunity to pursue areas of politics of particular interest to them. These sessions are invariably characterised by lively, energetic and sometimes passionate exchanges reflecting the rich depth of interest in politics at CLSB. In 2010 a majority of the school voted in a closely fought mock election.
