The School was inspected in May 2011 by the Independent Schools Inspectorate.

Their report’s main finding is that "City of London School is exceptionally successful."

It goes on to praise the "excellent and challenging curriculum", the "exceptionally wide range of high quality extra-curricular activities", the "excellent teaching" and the pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, which is "outstanding".

The leadership of the School, under the direction of Headmaster, David Levin, is also rated as "exceptional", whilst the "high standards of care" benefit the pupils in this "exceptional intellectual and cultural community".
