Fourth and Fifth Forms

GCSE and IGCSE courses are offered in the following subjects:

English, History, Geography, Religious Studies, Classical Civilisation, Latin, Greek, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Art and Design, Music, Drama and Physical Education.

All boys study English, Mathematics, Science, a Modern Foreign Language and three other subjects (one of which must be a humanity). Science occupies a total of nine periods per week, leading to either separate assessment in each of the three sciences (“triple award”, giving three IGCSE grades, taken by the large majority) or assessment of a syllabus still covering all three sciences but with reduced content, to give two IGCSE grades (“dual award”).

Mathematics has five periods; with the exception of Science, all other subjects are studied for four periods a week. In addition all boys have periods of P.E., Swimming, Personal Social and Health Education, ICT and Religious Education. All boys have three periods for games each week.

Boys are set by ability in Mathematics and French.
