Chemistry

The strong tradition of Chemistry teaching at City of London School goes back to the mid-nineteenth century, when the school was the first in the country to offer practical Chemistry lessons - at a cost of seven shillings a term extra. A hundred and fifty years later practical chemistry is for all pupils.

For many years our courses have also included environmental aspects of chemistry and study of the chemical industry in addition to more traditional topics. A level students are thus able to study the subject in more depth, having both an extensive practical and academic background and an appreciation of wider scientific issues. The Edexcel specifications are followed at both IGCSE and A level.
