Careers

Our careers centre is fully equipped and staffed by a professional careers consultant to offer information, advice and practical help to boys in their choice of university course and future career. It is open at all times of the School day. Members of staff also act as careers advisors.

A wide range of literature, including the current prospectuses of all British universities and many of the Colleges of Higher Education, a video library, the Internet and CD Roms are used extensively for careers guidance and to provide up-to-date information on higher education courses.

Boys in the Sixth Form can experience work-shadowing both here and overseas and attend careers courses and conferences as well as university open days. Parental involvement in work shadowing, either as advisors or providers, is warmly welcomed.

You can now download copies of the following Careers Booklets:

In the past, the School's Careers department has posted information within these pages about Alumni events and reunions. Now the John Carpenter Club (the Old Boys' Association of CLS) has its own website (http://www.jcc.org.uk), within which is much information about past and future events, including workshops (whereby Old Citizens visit the School to give a flavour of their careers to current Sixth Formers) and alumni reunions, which may involve Sixth Formers, but are mainly a chance for Old Citizens to meet with their peers as well as members of the teaching staff, here at CLS in a convivial atmosphere.

Please do visit the JCC website and, if you are a returning Old Ctizen who has not been much involved, contact Karen Sage (the Alumni Relations Officer), for more infomation.
